Mangaka 1: Summer Season is coming.

2018 Summer time:

The Spring season anime is coming to a close, fast. with one or two more weeks remaining.

This spring we had some good anime, some just okay anime and some that were just awful all together. And some controversial anime, by controversial I mean Tokyo Ghoul:Re.

Quick recap of what I thought was this season's best anime:

Wotaku no Koi wa Muzukashii - Love is hard for an Otaku

A solid comedy and romance between some adorable otakus. And just a pleasure to watch. But if only they went a bit deeper into their respective relationships... So with that a solid 8/10. Let's hope for a second season

Megalo Box

There is nothing to say about this, just absolutely amazing, always pumps me up and it's just a really good and solid underdog story, see what I did there? Heh. Definitely my favorite anime this spring season. And while I do agree with some people that there have been pacing issues, I think it's mostly because they have to resort to 12-13 episodes instead of 24, which would have given more substance to the anime and to his journey. But still, 10/10. I know that there'll be some Special episodes this summer after the season ends, but still, let's hope for a second season. (this will be the theme for the recap)

Hinamatsuri:

Surprisingly touching, funny, and has no business being as good as it is, which is why I love it. 9/10.

With that said, let's move onto SUMMER!!!!!

Okay, well here we go, this summer we have quite the long list.

Chio-chan no Tsuugakuro

From the start one of the funniest anime trailers I have ever seen. It has a lot of promise to it, just like with the one and only Amazing Sakamoto. And I can't wait to watch it and the snatch that manga and read it all in one day.

What has to have the biggest potential to be the best anime in terms of style and storytelling, no matter how ridiculous the name sounds, I have a lot of faith in this anime. And even maybe we will get another amazing opening song, just like for Acca-13.

Another ridiculous sounding one, and from what I saw from the brief glimpses from the manga, since I didn't want to ruin this show for myself, it will get stupid fast, and I love it. Three men as pop idols, AMAZING! Thank you Japan.

High Score Girl

This is basically the "Only 90's kids remember" anime, but then again, this seems fun, another rivalry between some kids and classic games to soothe that nostalgia. But the best thing about this anime will be the fanboys that will scream: "that's not how it works" and stuff like that when it comes to the actual games in this anime.

In this summer season we can't not have an edgy, bloody, yandere anime... Who missed them, right? They aren't bitches, they're just misunderstood... Wait... No... Well, whatever... Happy Sugar Life hope you won't disappoint. Like these past three seasons where the edgy anime with some good idea behind them turned out to be really bad.

This one is a supernatural comedy about something or other that uses a demonic thing to summon a tsundere demon... Sounds familiar... Hmm... NEXT

This summer's soft core porn and fanservice anime... But it isn't sexual because he's a little boy that is mistaken to be a girl. But he is in high school, so that makes it sexual. GOD DAMN IT!!! I will watch this, please go beyond Eromanga-sensei... Please go beyond Eromanga-sensei...

This season's mystery anime has Holmes in its title. Hopefully the cases will be interesting, the cast dynamic and the love story a solid one, you know there will be a love story in this one. But in all honestly, there are a few and rare detective anime out that can be called good. So I am  hoping I can add this to the list with Gosick and Detective Conan.

This is just Osmosis Jones but anime, what more do I have to say? It will be wacky because it's anime, so that's promising from the start.

And we have yet again another historical anime after this season's Kamui the big bad disappointment. But this time the animation looks crisp, the story seems way more interesting than the plot of Kamui. In all honesty this could turn out to be the surprise hit of this summer.

This will be the season's heartfelt anime, in my opinion. An atmospheric, beautiful and sweet anime about some girls. I'm sold, I will watch this.

The angsty anime of this season that tries to do something clever just like Caligula, will it fail? I don't know... But it has Twilight in its title. I will give it that very important chance of 3 episodes.

Genius gone missing? Check. Secret shady organization? Check. Mystery about said missing genius? Check? The only reason I am curious about this one, is because I wonder what exactly makes that missing man a genius. How will they express that? How it all ties together. Wait, shit... It did what it supposed to do, intrigue me. FUCK!!!

Well, these are the anime that have me curious, and make me want to jump forwards in time. But, here are a couple of movies to look out for this Summer too:

This will be a tearjerker and I can't wait to watch it. For the sake of making things easier, it's gender-swapped The fault in our stars. And it looks and feels beautiful from the trailer.

And lastly...

Boss Baby but with more heart, an anime and time travel. Boom, sold.

And you probably didn't find in this list the big guys, like Attack on Titan season 3, Overlord season 3, some other big movies or anime series. Well, it's mostly because I only watch a few really big shows, since I want to look for hidden gems or anime that doesn't get hyped and I want to give a chance to smaller studios.

Just a rather small thing to discuss.
