American Dream

I live the American Dream

I finally did it. I am living it. The American Dream is mine, I reached it. I made my dream come true. Me... A hard working, young blood... I was working 12 hour shifts, taking classes and going through college. And working on my dream, writing. What was I writing? What was my first step of my dream? Writing and self-publishing Trapped: Autumn. The first book in an arc of a book series. Don't believe me? You can buy it here: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XJQ1C15

Not only was I able to publish this book and make it available world-wide. It's also available as a paperback or to be downloaded on your device. Thus my first step towards the American Dream was made, I was almost there. Then I got a few sales, I was ecstatic. Short after that the haters appeared... I don't hear much from them nowadays. Not that I care, since they hate without any actual basis. So with those sales I got to the American Dream, but that wasn't good enough for me. I had to solidify the ground I was standing on. Which I did, but due to the haters, I was hell bend on trying to one up the debut book. By taking it to a new level and working even harder. Which I did. And just like with Trapped: Autumn I self-published Trapped: Spring world-wide. Don't believe me? Here:

So this was the second book. I was proud of it, I was proud of how it all turned out. The cover, the writing, the story, the ending of this two book ark... And this was the second to last step towards truly living the American Dream. Yet I forgot to mention something. I was, and am, self-publishing, that means that I have to be very careful with the way I write, edit, correct and construct the story of my books. Then I have to give props to my good friend that draws these masterful covers. Next would be marketing and social media. Which is hard, especially without funds. In my case they are completely lacking. That means that I have the following:

And these are just the ones I use very often. Then there is the promotional material. Photos which I have to create from scratch or work hard on them to make them resemble something intelligible, yet to attract new readers. When the time for the last year of college I was still working those twelve hour shifts, I was publishing my second book and I was on the road to graduation. But then I started to look for something to set me in that sweet American Dream.

And I had found it. The same way I managed to self-publish world-wide, I had found a way to make merchandise. With that I had made it. Having merchandise for books. I have from t-shirts to hoodies to phone cases to tote bags to women's tank tops. Don't believe me? Here:

This also means more things to do, more pages to manage and more designs, more Photoshop. But that's what the American Dream is all about, right? Hard work, dedication, learning new things with every step, trying new things, never getting discouraged from the work that has to be done... And I've done all that on no funds or budget what so ever and made some money. Well, a very small amount, but still, a profit is a profit.

Now to recap. In one year, I have managed to publish two books, have merch, have a lot of social media activity, and basically live the American Dream. I am still in the same twelve hour job, I am out of college, I am about to publish the third book. And I am still living this dream, despite not being from the United States, never even stepping in the U.S. And if you want to help, you can by becoming a patron on Patreon:

Pity

Just a rather small thing to discuss.
